Joao John C. Pimentel, 95, of Palm Street, Attleboro, died on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Senhorinha Sarah (Soares) Pimentel to whom he was married on May 1, 1943 and died on December 22, 2008. Born in St. Miguel, Azores on May 28, 1916, he was a son of the late Vincent and Maria Jo (Mello) Pimentel. He was raised and educated in his native country and served proudly with the Portuguese Army. He immigrated to the United States in 1950 and settled in the City of Attleboro. Mr. Pimentel was employed as a foundry worker having worked for Apco-Mossberg Company in Attleboro from 1950 until his retirement in 1979. He was a faithful communicant of Holy Ghost Church, Attleboro. He and his wife were honored to be selected as the Mordomos of the Holy Ghost Feast in 1982. An ardent sports fan, Mr. Pimentel loved to follow European football, known in the United States as soccer, and was an enthusiastic fan of the New England teams. His fondest times were spent amidst the company of his beloved family. His family made him the happiest and he was most proud of each and every one of them. He leaves three daughters: Mary Jo Pugh of Attleboro; Mary Rose Murphy of Attleboro and Mary Angel Aguiar of Attleboro; 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a brother: Vincent Pimentel in Canada; several members of his late wifes family, several nieces and nephews, extended family members and dear friends. He was the maternal grandfather of the late Jo-Ann Aguiar who died in 1973 and was the brother of the late Mary Pereira, Angelo Pimentel and Joseph Pimentel. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on SATURDAY, November 5, 2011 from 5:00 8:00 PM in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Relatives and Friends are cordially invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on MONDAY, November 7, 2011 at 1:30 PM in Holy Ghost Church, 71 Linden Street (exit 3A off I-95 S, merge onto South Avenue/Route 123E, South Avenue becomes Thacher St., go through light at County Square, Linden Street 3rd street on the right), Attleboro, with the Rev. John Murray, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Johns Cemetery, Attleboro. Following graveside services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of refreshment and fellowship in the lower level of Holy Ghost Church. Please omit flowers.
