Joanne Grace (Cheek) Young, 86, of Level Acres Road, South Attleboro, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at Newton Wellesley Hospital after a period of declining health. She was the wife of Glenn L. Young to whom she would have celebrated 65 years of marriage on October 20, 2012. Born in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada on April 16, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Captain William A. E. and Ella Maude Cheek. She formerly resided in Waltham, Massachusetts for over thirty years. Mrs. Young was active in the women's group at Immanuel Methodist Church, Waltham, enjoyed hosting parties for special needs children with the women's group, loved entertaining, vacationing in Ormond Beach, FL and especially loved time spent with her beloved family. In addition to her husband, she leaves her children Janella Swartz and husband Joel, Milford, MA, Bramwell Young and wife Elizabeth, Wellesley Hills, MA, Sheldon and wife Anne, Waltham, MA and Tanis Collard and husband Donald, Attleboro, MA with whom she made her home for the past eight years and her son in law: George Rudolph, Falmouth. She also leaves 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and her loving sister in law, Maria Cheek, Toronto, Canada. She was predeceased in death by her daughter Sherryl, who passed away September 17, 2011. Mrs. Young was predeceased by her siblings Bramwell, William, Reginald, Lester, Dorris and Welsford all of Canada. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral immediately following visitation on Monday, October 1, 2012 at 11:30 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Jeffrey Thomas, officiating. Burial will follow in North Purchase Cemetery, Attleboro. Children's room available during visitation and the funeral.
