Joanne Marie (Taglione) Brastow of Norton, MA passed away peacefully at the Maples Nursing Home in Wrentham, MA on January 10, 2025, after a very long illness. She was 60.
A graduate of Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School, Jo worked at Automated Emblem Supplies in Foxboro for 13 years before retiring due to illness in 2004. There, she met Evan Brastow, her husband of 25 years.
Jo grew up in Brockton and on Cape Cod. She moved to Mansfield, MA after school, then, with Evan, lived in Foxboro and Attleboro before settling in Norton in 2006.
Jo was beloved by everyone she met. Her light of kindness, goodness and strength was apparent to all. Her smile was infectious. Jo had a strong sense of humor that made everyone laugh when they least expected it. She had a strong love for family, especially her two daughters, and her love and compassion for animals of all kinds (even stuffed) was unsurpassed.
In healthier times she loved going to Hamblin's Pond in Barnstable, to any park or zoo she could find, and had a knack for finding good things at bargain prices. She was an incredible cook of Italian foods all kinds. She was also an artist and singlehandedly renovated the fixer-upper she inherited from her father in 2000 into a beautiful country Cape house.
Jo battled brain cancer and its long-term effects courageously for over 22 years, including 4 surgeries between 2002 and 2004.
She is survived by her husband Evan Brastow of Norton, MA; her daughters Jennifer Bice of Providence, RI and Stephanie Bice of Tampa, FL; her husband's siblings: Kim Brastow and his wife, Kathleen Camacho Brastow, of North Attleboro, MA and Jeff Brastow and his wife, Janice Treweek Brastow, of Foxborough, MA and several nieces and nephews.
Jo is also survived by several friends that were of great help in her care and companionship over the years, including best friend Sally Cutler of Attleboro, MA, Darlene and James Cordaro of South Carolina and Rachel Sayce-Mcintyre of Norton, MA.
Jo was predeceased by her parents, Joseph Taglione and Alice (Miller) Taglione of Marstons Mills, MA and Brockton, MA and was the daughter-in-law of the late Carl and Ruth E. (Holdgate) Brastow.
