Joan R. (Fontneau) Silvia formerly of North Attleboro, MA went home to Our Lord on Wednesday February 26, 2025, during the Hour of Mercy.
Joanie died peacefully at the home of her sister, Anne Marie, and brother-in-law, Dan, on Cape Cod. She waged a 6-year battle with cancer with courage, dignity, faith and humor.
Joanie was the daughter of the late Rita and Gerard Fontneau of Attleboro, she was a graduate of Attleboro High School and was employed as a Business Financial Administrator by Advantage Marketing of Foxboro, MA, she also was an employee for many years of Josten’s Inc. of Attleboro.
While growing up, she loved spending her summers at Matunuk Beach in Rhode Island.
Joanie is survived by her sons, Eric Silvia of Nashua NH and Pat Silvia of Elon, NC, also by her brother Norman (Joanne) Fontneau of Seekonk, MA, Denis (Pam) Fontneau of Pawtucket, RI, sister Anne Marie (Dan) Dodge of South Yarmouth, MA. Joanie was predeceased by her brother David Fontneau and her fiancé, Richard Curran Jr. She is also survived by many cousins.
As an organ donor Joanie’s spirit will live on.
Close by her side on this last journey were her three cats Ying-Yang, Muffin and Spirit who unfortunately predeceased her. Joanie also had Twitter and Facebook followers with whom she shared so much of herself and her struggles. And through her beloved bear Raspberry she encouraged and tried to be a positive presence to many of her Twitter family.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend Visitation on Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 11:00 am at St Thersa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church, 18 Baltic Street, Attleboro, MA. There will be no funeral procession from the funeral home prior to the commencement of the Funeral Mass.
Inurnment will be at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Centerville, MA.

Joanie’s family is grateful for being lifted up by the professionalism, love and care shown to Joanie and us all during these difficult days, by her VNA nurses, aides and staff.
