Joan Marie Seymour

Joan Marie (Benkavitch) Seymour, 71, of Plainville, formerly of Norton, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Paul Alan Seymour, Sr. who died in March, 2002. Born in Walpole, Massachusetts on December 2, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Wanda (Walukevich) Benkavitch. She was raised and educated in Walpole, where she was a graduate of Walpole High School in 1959. In her early years, Joan was a graduate of Union Hospital School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse. Later, as a store manager, she was employed for Parade of Shoes in Woonsocket, RI prior to her retirement in 1991. Joan had been very active with the Plainville Senior Center. She enjoyed watching television, listening to music and crafting. Mrs. Seymour leaves behind her beloved son: Paul Alan Seymour, Jr. of North Attleboro; one brother: Richard "Dick" Benkavitch of Walpole; a beloved nephew: Mark Benkavitch of Walpole; a niece: Kate Benkavitch of Pennsylvania; many extended family members and dear friends. She was the mother of the late Michael W. Seymour, who passed away in October, 2013. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Friday, January 31, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. A Funeral Service to which family and friends are invited to attend will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 9:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home. Children's room available during visitation and the funeral service. Burial will follow in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Attleboro.
