Joan Gordon Fogarty, R.N.

Joan Gordon (Bair) Fogarty, 91, of Wrentham, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham, MA. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Arthur Fogarty who died in 2005.Born on December 26, 1925 in New York City, NY, she was the daughter of the late Alfred DePinna Bair and the late Charlotte Patricia (Gordon) Bair.A graduate of Bayside (NY) High School, Class of 1944, she received her nursing degree from the former Cumberland Hospital in Brooklyn, NY, Class of 1947. As a Registered Nurse, Joan served in the Army Cadet Nurse Corps she was also the Director of Nurses for the Star of David Nursing Home in Roxbury, MA; in the Pediatrics and Emergency Room at Norwood Hospital in Norwood, MA; and as a Phlebotomist for the American Red Cross Blood Donor Program in Boston, MA. She retired from employment in 1986.A resident of Wrentham since 2007, she previously lived in North Attleboro, MA, DeLand, FL, and Palm Coast, FL.Joan had been a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Norwood, MA. A caring, generous, and compassionate woman, she volunteered her time at a shelter for battered woman, served as a Guardian Ad Litem and Child Advocate in Palm Coast, FL, and was a supporter of Children International. Joan was an ardent reader and a wonderful cook who enjoyed informal gatherings with colleagues and friends. She was the loving mother of Keith Gordon Langer, Esquire and his wife, Dianne (Ruggles) Langer, of Wrentham, MA; Janet D. Johnson and her husband, Jon Johnson, of North Attleboro, MA; Ann Quill of Byfield, MA; Elizabeth Finn and her husband, Dennis Finn, of Foxboro, MA; Christine Rooney of West Wareham, MA; Nancy Conary of Nobleboro, ME; and Robert Fogarty and his wife, Kimberly Fogarty, of West Bridgewater, MA. She was the adoring grandmother of Laurel Afonso; Kristen Johnson; Shawn Finn; Brian Finn; Jenna Debonise; Kimberly Kelsch; Erin Conary; Ben Conary; Brandyn Fogarty; and Justyn Fogarty; and the proud great-grandmother of Kayleigh Morgan Afonso; Emma Grace Debonise; Leah Riley Afonso; Jackson Kelsch; and Allison Finn. Joan was the sister of Patricia Parsons of Little Rock, AK and Leila Leahy of Charlottesville, VA.Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Joan by gathering for a Visitation on Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Funeral Service on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 24 Berwick Street, Norwood, MA.Burial services will immediately follow the funeral service in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Roslindale, MA, at which time Joan will be laid to rest alongside her dear late husband, Robert.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Joan to the American Red Cross, P.O.
