Joan M. (Kuzynski) Drew, 88, formerly of Robinson Avenue, South Attleboro, died on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at the Life Care Center of Attleboro. She was the wife of the late Francis J. "Frank" Drew to whom she was married on August 27, 1949 and who died on Friday, March 9, 2007. Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on October 8, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Mary (Plezia) Nikodem and was the stepdaughter of the late Peter Nikodem. Raised and educated in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Mrs. Drew was a graduate of Tolman High School. She had been a resident of Attleboro since 1949. Mrs. Drew was employed as an executive secretary for the City of Attleboro School Department in the Office of the Superintendent of Schools for several years prior to her retirement in the 1980s. As a breast cancer survivor since 1980, Mrs. Drew was a volunteer with the Road to Recovery, a breast cancer support network. Her family will recall, with love in their hearts, a woman of elegance and grace whom was totally devoted and dedicated to her family. She was a communicant of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church, South Attleboro. Mrs. Drew and her family enjoyed many times spent creating lifelong memories to cherish at the family cottage in Dennisport, a home designed and built by her late husband and father-in-law, where they enjoyed the tranquility and peacefulness that the area offers. She leaves a daughter: Mary J. Legare and her husband, Paul E. Legare, of Attleboro; a son: John F. Drew, Esquire and his wife, Leslie A. (Moran) Drew, of Needham; six grandchildren: Marissa (Legare) Nolan of Attleboro; Kristin (Legare) Lewandowski of Burlington; Jenna (Legare) Gustafson of Canton; Drew Legare of Medford; Alexandra Drew of Needham and Jack Drew of Needham; four great grandchildren: Madigan Noland and Shawn Nolan both of Attleboro and Emma Lewandowski and Hannah Lewandowski both of Burlington and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She was the sister of the late Frances Zuromski. Private visitation and funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 in the "Memorial Chapel" of the DYER-LAKE FUNERAL HOME - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Burial will follow in Newell Burying Ground, South Attleboro.
