Joan Marie
Blitchington
Jul 23, 1935 — Jun 19, 2026
Joan M (Fama) Blitchington, 90, of North Attleboro, MA and Wrentham, MA passed away at her residence on June 19, 2026, surrounded by loved ones, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Known as Beeba to almost everyone, she was born on July 23, 1935, in Derby, CT, the daughter of the late Joseph and Esther (Veneziano) Fama.
Joan graduated from Ansonia High School in Ansonia, CT in 1952, and went on to receive an Associate's Degree from Colby-Sawyer College in 1954. Joan worked at ENT Specialists in Norwood, MA for many years until her retirement in 2020.
Beeba's life can be classified by three F's: Faith, Family and Food. She was a parishioner at St. Mark's Church in North Attleboro for over forty years, seldom missing weekly mass, even in her later years when getting around became more difficult.
Her Family was the main focus of her life. Whether it was visiting with relatives in Connecticut, staying for extended periods of time with her sons, daughter-in-law and grandchildren in North Carolina, or attending every football, baseball and soccer game, concert, and school play of her grandchildren in Wrentham, Beeba was happiest surrounded by family. An avid New England Patriots fan, Beeba spent most Sundays at her son and daughter-in-law's house watching the game.
Ask almost anyone who knew Beeba and they would say that she was an incredible cook. She loved cooking for her family and friends, and to her, food was love. She took great joy in feeding anyone who walked into her house and loved teaching her friends and family, especially her grandchildren, how to cook.
Beeba spent the last few years as a resident of the Pond Home in Wrentham, MA and her family would like to extend their gratitude for the excellent care and love she received there.
Beeba leaves behind her brother, Joseph Fama of Shelton, CT, her sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Diane Blitchington of Chapel Hill, NC, David Blitchington of Marathon, FL and Peter and Sharon Blitchington of Wrentham, MA, her grandchildren and their spouses Joshua and Melinda Blitchington, Luke and Jessica Blitchington, and Kasey and Lewis Pate, all of Pittsboro, NC, and Nicholas Blitchington and Nathan Blitchington of Wrentham, MA and her great-grandchildren Brooks and Rhea Blitchington, Charlotte and Hayes Blitchington and Everett and Amelia Pate, as well as several nephews, nieces and cousins
Family and friends are warmly invited to attend Visitation on Wednesday June 24, 2026, from 5pm until 7pm in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
