Joan Frances (Callahan) Barradas, R.N., 89, a former Attleboro, MA resident, passed away on September 22, 2021, at the Longmeadow of Taunton with the same spunk and tenacity that she lived her life. She was the wife of the late Robert Francis Barradas to whom she was married on October 17, 1953, and who died on June 13, 2012.
Born in Taunton, MA on December 28, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Charles Leo Callahan and the late Marguerite (O'Neil) Callahan.
Raised and educated in Taunton, MA, she was a 1944 graduate of Taunton High School and was a graduate of the Sturdy Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.
She moved to Attleboro in 1961. She was employed by the medical practice of Dr. Nereo in Taunton, MA for many years and retired from Elmwood Sensors where she served as an industrial nurse.
Mrs. Barradas was a longtime communicant of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Attleboro.
Joan enjoyed time spent at her condominium on the Cape Cod Canal in Bourne, MA and the home she maintained for many years in South Dennis.
She treasured her profession as a registered nurse and the time spent with her family creating lifelong memories to cherish. Joan loved the beach and fun in the sun, playing cards and bingo.
Left to mourn her loss are her daughter: JoAnn M. Foster of New Bedford, MA; her two cherished granddaughters: Alaina J. Wright of Murphy, North Carolina and Tiffany N. Foster of Lowell, MA; her loving great granddaughter: Rowan Olivia Wright of Murphy, North Carolina and several extended family members and friends.
She was the sister of the late Jean Riley, Joyce Tavares, and David Callahan.
Visitation has been respectfully omitted.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a graveside funeral service on Friday, October 8, 2021, at 12:00 noon at St. John's Cemetery, West Street, Attleboro, MA. Burial will follow.
