Jewel Hardmon

December 17, 1951 — September 2, 2023

Rev. Jewel Hardmon, 71, Pastor of the Fruit of the Spirit Mission Church in Attleboro, MA and a tireless community leader and advocate for the homeless and poverty stricken, went home to be with the Lord on September 2, 2023, at Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro, MA.
She entered into her earthly life on December 17, 1951, in Boston, MA as the daughter of the late Willie Harold Hardmon, Sr. and the late Joan Edith (Miller) Hardmon.  Raised and educated in Boston, her faith was an integral part of her life from early years.  As a licensed practical nurse, she utilized her caring and compassionate soul to help others.  Working with people with intellectual and physical challenges and disabilities was very much a part of her "calling" as part of her work at the Wrentham Developmental Center and Horace Mann Educational Associates.  It was a natural transition into ministry and she served for more than the last 20 years as the pastor of Fruit of the Spirit Mission Church.
Rev. Jewel was an active member of Tres Dias, an international non-denominational Christian organization where she served as a spiritual director and was a member of the MLK Committee in Attleboro, MA.
Her churches were instrumental under her leadership in feeding the homeless in Boston and surrounding areas and providing and distributing food baskets to those in need during the holiday seasons.
She was the mother of Carmen N. (Hardmon) Brown of Stoughton, MA and the late Jason Jamal Hardmon who died on January 27, 1998.  Rev. Jewel was the guardian and caregiver of Cheryl Van Kleef of Taunton, MA and the late Pamela Reeves who died on September 30, 2019.  She was the beloved and cherished grandmother of Stephanie N. Hardmon ad Jaquay Jewell Dee-Hardmon and great grandmother of Rashad Jamal LaPorte, Jason Joel Hardmon and Savanna Jewel Hardmon.
From a large and loving family, she was one of 13 children and leaves her siblings: Apostle Willie Harold Hardmon, Jr. of Brockton, MA; Elder James E. Hardmon of Foxboro, MA; Pastor Richard Curtis Hardmon of Attleboro, MA; Minister Lisa Stevenson of Pawtucket, Rhode Island; Deacon Mark Hardmon in Georgia; Judith Wahl of Stoughton, MA; Michael Hardmon, member of the Boston Fire Department, of Randolph, MA; Lecia Hardmon of Boston, MA; Dorothy Williams of Rotterdam, New York; Missionary Robin Hardmon of Attleboro, MA; Michelle Brinson of Charlotte, North Carolina and Martin M. Hardmon of Taunton, MA.
She leaves countless nieces, nephews, extended family members, her church families and many many dear friends.
Her Spiritual Homegoing will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023, in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North  Attleboro, MA with visitation from 9:00 am until 11:00 am and a Celebration of Life and Legacy from 11:00 am until 1:15 pm followed by graveside services at 2:00 pm at Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, North Attleboro, MA.
Following cemetery services, an invitation will be extended for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at the Club Luis De Cameos, 76 Porter Street, Stoughton, MA.
