Jean E. (Clark) Mathias, 72, of Capron Street, Attleboro, died on Friday, July 8, 2011 at the Life Care Center of Attleboro where she had been a resident since May 16, 2011. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on July 26, 1938, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Julia V. (Scanlon) Clark. Raised and educated in North Attleboro, Mrs. Mathias resided in Attleboro for the past 22 years. She was employed as an assembler for the Hilsinger Corporation in Plainville for 15 years prior to her retirement. She had also been employed at the former Friendly Corner Coffee Shop in North Attleboro as a waitress and cook and had worked at C. Ray Randall, Dunkin Donuts, Mason Box and Plasticraft Manufacturing during her career. Mrs. Mathias was educated at St. Marys School and North Attleboro public schools. She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in North Attleboro. She was a longtime member of the North Attleboro Emblem Club. As an ardent reader, Mrs. Mathias was a fan of Danielle Steel novels and enjoyed watching her stories, or soap operas, on television. Solving crossword puzzles and spending time creating lifelong memories with family members was most enjoyable. Mrs. Mathias was a former volunteer for the United Way of Greater Taunton. She leaves seven children: James E. Langille of Attleboro; Dale R. Maynard of Mathias, West Virginia; David L. Mathias of Falls Church, Virginia; Johnnie D. Mathias of North Attleboro; Rosemary B. Noviello and her husband, David A. Noviello, of Rehoboth; Cheryl A. Johnson and her husband, Thomas E. Johnson, of North Attleboro and Roberta J. Mathias and her fianc, Charles N. Tiller, of Winchester, Virginia; 23 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a sister: Roberta A. Patterson and her husband, Daniel C. Patterson, of The Villages, Florida; a niece: Brenda Davis of North Attleboro and several extended family members and dear friends. She was the sister of the late Joseph Edward Clark who died on February 12, 2002 and was the twin sister of the late Joan E. Aponte who died on July 26, 2010. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Park Street, North Attleboro with the Rev. David A. Costa, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Towne Street, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Following cemetery services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced. Please do not send flowers.
