Jean C. (Stanford) Hansen, 83, of East Washington Street, North Attleboro, died unexpectedly at her residence on Saturday, December 15, 2012. She was the wife of the late Lawrence A. "Larry" Hansen to whom she was married on April 11, 1947 and who died on April 9, 2003. Born in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts on December 20, 1928, the daughter of the late Edward A. Stanford, Sr. and Ellen "Helen" (Pelren) Stanford. She was raised in Northboro and Shrewsbury before moving to North Attleboro in the mid-1940s. She was a 1946 graduate of North Attleboro High School. It was in North Attleboro that she met and married her husband. Mrs. Hansen was employed at several local companies over the years including C.R. Randall, Evans Case, Metals and Controls and later at the Plainville Stock Company where she was employed until her retirement. A lover of the water, she enjoyed swimming for many years. Among her favorite pastimes were those spent camping and summering with her family in Little Compton, Rhode Island. Her life was centered on her love for her family with a special affection for her beloved and cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered for the twinkle in her eye when she often spoke of them and their accomplishments. Mrs. Hansen was a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. She leaves three sons: Walter E. Hansen of Brockton; Kenneth L. Hansen of North Attleboro and his longtime companion, Nancy Driscoll of Attleboro and Edward S. Hansen of Portsmouth, Rhode Island; two grandchildren: Amy E. Helm and her husband, John Helm, of Franklin and Katie L. Diggs and her husband, Jonathan Diggs, of Smyrna, Delaware; four great grandchildren: Emily Helm and twins - Andrew and Ethan Helm all of Franklin and Ryan T. Diggs of Smyrna, Delaware; three sisters: Florence H. Stanford of Worcester; Ruth S. Boucher, wife of the late Arthur Boucher, Jr., of Worcester and Nancy Ann Morse, wife of the late Leon Morse, of Shrewsbury and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She was the sister of the late Dorothy S. Siddall and her late husband, George Siddall; Esther P. Nardelli and her late husband, James Nardelli; Edward A. Stanford, Jr. and Robert Stanford. She was the dear friend of many years of the late Helen Williams. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Thursday, December, 20, 2012, on what would have been her 84th birthday, from 1:00 - 2:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Those in need of a ride to visitation may call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral service immediately following visitation on Thursday, December, 20, 2012, on what would have been her 84th birthday, at 2:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, North Attleboro. Children's room available during visitation and the funeral. Following funeral services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship, refreshments and remembrance at a location to be announced.
