Janice Elaine (Ferrara) McChesney, 73, of Sargent Circle, Attleboro, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted and dedicated wife of Donald W. McChesney to whom she was married on April 26, 1969 in New Jersey. Born in East Orange, New Jersey on April 19, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Gerard T. and Dorothy K. (Vanover) Ferrara. She was raised in Newark and Greenbrook, New Jersey. Mrs. McChesney was a graduate of St. Peter's High School in New Brunswick, New Jersey - Class of 1959. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Rhode Island in 1987 and earned her Juris Doctorate from the New England School of Law in 1990. In 1991, Mrs. McChesney opened her private practice in Attleboro and continued being a mediator and social advocate for her clients until days before her death. She resided in Attleboro since 1971 having previously resided in East Taunton. Mrs. McChesney was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Attleboro. She will be lovingly remembered for her love for socializing, her devotion to her clients, her fondness for cooking and eating out at local restaurants. Some of her favorite pastimes were those spent at the family home in Cotuit where time spent at local beaches was always a pleasure. Mrs. McChesney served as a committee member for the National Alliance on Mental Illness. In addition to her husband, she leaves a son: Paul N. McChesney of Foxboro; two daughters: Elizabeth A. McChesney of North Attleboro and Sarah J. McChesney of Providence, Rhode Island; her siblings: Joan Davi of Ramsey, New Jersey; Loretta Ferrara of Manchester, New Jersey; Jerry Ferrara of Bridgewater, New Jersey; Doreen Maso of Green Brook, New Jersey and Paul Ferrara of Green Brook, New Jersey; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and many dear friends. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation with on Thursday, November 6, 2014 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. A Funeral Service will immediately follow visitation on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 7:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
