Janice Lynn
Collins
Feb 14, 1957 — Sep 14, 2026
Janice L. (Jan) Collins, 69, of North Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2026, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Jan spent her final days with her husband, children, siblings, best friends, and her beloved grandchildren. While her loss is deeply felt, Jan never lost her warmth, joy, or spirit. Even through treatments, hospital stays, and difficult days, she remained positive and hopeful, always treating those around her with remarkable kindness.
Born on February 14, 1957, to the late Donald and Arline Thresher, Jan was raised in North Attleboro, MA, and graduated from North Attleboro High School, Class of 1975. She married her loving husband, Neil, on November 8, 1986, and together they raised their two sons, Sean and Ryan, in Southington, CT and then Walpole, MA. Jan was endlessly proud of her family and cherished her relationships with her siblings, Robert and Alison.
Jan and Neil spent many happy years enjoying their favorite place, Chatham, MA, where she loved walking downtown for coffee, enjoying a cocktail at Chatham Bars Inn, listening to country music, and watching the sunset at Hardings Beach. She also treasured sunny days at Oyster Pond Beach with her grandsons.
Above all, Jan treasured being "Mimi," a name lovingly given to her by her oldest grandson, Noah. She adored her four grandsons, Noah, Dylan, Arlo, and Wells. Mimi was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and had a way of making everyone around her feel loved. Her warmth, beautiful smile, and generous spirit were truly one of a kind. Some of Jan's final words were, "my family." Those words perfectly captured who she was. Her family was her greatest joy, and she was always making sure everyone was taken care of, never asking for anything in return.
Jan is survived by her devoted husband, Neil Collins; her son, Sean Collins and his wife, Meaghan, of North Attleboro, MA, and their sons, Noah and Dylan; her son, Ryan Collins and his wife, Emily, of New York, NY, and their sons, Arlo and Wells; her siblings, Robert Thresher and his wife, Leslie, and Alison Mathieson and her husband, Mark, both of North Attleboro, MA; her uncle, Peter Viveiros and his wife, Susan, of Tiverton, RI; and many beloved brothers-and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She joins her parents and her beloved dogs, Champ, Maggie, and Teddy, in heaven. We will miss Mimi every day until we see her again.
