James Raymond Waite

James Raymond Waite, 83, of North Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, died on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at his residence surrounded by the love of his family. He was the husband of Lois L. (Larson) Waite to whom he was married on January 16, 1960. Born on October 14, 1929, Mr. Waite was a son of the late Harold and Doris E. (Keith) Waite. He was raised and educated in Warren, Rhode Island where he graduated from Warren High School. He later moved to Norton where he resided until moving to North Attleboro 54 years ago. Mr. Waite attended Rhode Island College and the Rhode Island School of Design both in Providence, Rhode Island. He was a patriotic man and was proud to have served with the Rhode Island National Guard. Mr. Waite was employed as an insurance underwriter for the former Factory Mutual Insurance Company in Norwood and later worked for more than 20 years as a land surveyor for Stanley Engineering in East Providence, Rhode Island until his retirement. In earlier years, Mr. Waite was employed at a boat yard in Warren, Rhode Island where he assisted in the building of small skiffs. He was a volunteer call firefighter for the Town of Warren. He was a member of the Masonic order for 54 years and held membership with the Azure Lodge in Walpole and the Rising Star AF & AM Lodge in Stoughton. In earlier years, Mr. Waite was a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America in North Attleboro. He was a talented craftsman who will be remembered for his woodworking talents. In addition to his wife of 52 years, he leaves four children: David L. Bowers of Macungie, Pennsylvania; Wayne D. Waite of Pearl City, Hawaii; Cheryl E. Mullen of Attleboro and Heather L. Waite of Attleboro Falls; five grandchildren; a brother: Arnold Waite in Florida and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was the brother of the late Elizabeth "Betty" Lawton and Harold Waite who died in the Invasion of Normandy during World War II. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. For those in need of a local ride to visitation simply call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 10:00 AM from the "Memorial Chapel" of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Kenneth Boyle, Pastor of Candleberry Chapel, South Main Street, Attleboro, officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, North Attleboro. Please do not send flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mr. Waite's name may be made to the Winslow Farm Animal Sanctuary, 37 Eddy Street, Norton, MA 02766.
