James Edward Teal

James (Jim) Edward Teal, 74, of Plainville, MA passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving and supportive family on September 24, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Dawn M. (Menker) Teal to whom he was married for 45 years on September 29, 1979.

Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts on July 4, 1951, he was a son of the late Emerson Roy Teal, Sr. and the late Effie May (Baggs) Teal.

In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons: James D. Teal and his wife, Sara (Warsheski) Teal of East Bridgewater, MA and Craig E. Teal and his wife, Amy (Young) Teal, of Seattle, WA; his grandchildren: Wesley I. Teal of Seattle, WA and Robert J. Teal of East Bridgewater, MA; three generations of nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends.

He was the brother of the late Eileen Hamm, Walter Teal, Sr., Beverly Makranin, Nancy Rogers, Emerson Teal, Jr, Ada Roberts, Douglas Teal and Susanne Cooper.

Jim attended the Franklin Institute of Technology in Boston. He then spent his early career working for Northeast Ford Engines before taking a position with Allied Signal. After 16 years he transitioned his career, spending 3 years with H.P. Hood, and another 16 with Dean Foods where he was the director of logistics prior to his retirement in 2015.

He was a member of the Mount Vernon-Galilean Lodge of the Free Masons in Melrose, MA where he was also a member of the Scottish Rite. He received many special designations during his years of involvement including the Degree of Chevalier in 1972.

Along with supporting his sons in their many endeavors growing up, his interests included drag racing, riding his motorcycle, boating, working on cars and carpentry. Most of all he treasured creating lifelong memories with his family and friends at Totem Pole Park in Freedom, NH.

Family and friends are warmly welcomed to attend Visitation on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm in the “Memorial Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA followed immediately by a Celebration of Life Service at 4:00 pm in the “Memorial Chapel”.

Following services an invitation will be extended to join the family for continued fellowship and a meal at a location to be announced.

Burial services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either Old Colony Hospice and Palliative Care, 321 Manley Street, West Bridgewater, MA 02379 or the Freedom Food Pantry, First Christian Church, 12 Elm Street, Freedom, NH 03836.
