James A. Semler Jr, 64 of Plainville, MA., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 14, 2023.
Born in Boston, MA., on January 6, 1959, he was the son of the late James A. Semler and Dorothy R. (Law) Semler and the beloved grandfather of the late Lily Semler.
Jim was employed at the Norwood Post Office for almost 40 years before retiring. He was a diehard New England sports fan through and through and had a love for the sport of golf that he shared with his son, family, and many friends. He also enjoyed playing baseball and softball in his prime which led to him coaching and teaching his children both sports along with many others. The man never missed a game or any event his kids were involved with, and you always knew Jim was there from the way he "coached" from the stands. Jim had a fond hobby of collecting and sorting valuable coins along with sports memorabilia. He had a way of making an impression on anyone that crossed his path, either with his extensive knowledge of many different subjects or with his quick-witted remarks he always had. He was the most loving and devoted Dad and Grampy, who loved his children and grandchildren more than anything. There was nothing that made him happier than spending time with them, every chance he had; they were his whole world.
He is survived by his loving children, Lisa M. Semler of Attleboro, MA., Jamie Bou and her husband Patrick of Attleboro, MA., and James Semler III and his wife Kimberly of Mendon, MA. His dear grandchildren, Mia, Sierra, Ellie, Paityn and a cherished grandson soon to be expected. He is also survived by his brothers, David A. Semler, John J. Semler, Paul S. Semler and Dennis M. Semler.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Sunday, September 24, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
