James E. N. Tinkler

James Elbert Nathaniel Tinkler, 85, of George Street, formerly of South Avenue, Attleboro, died on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the Golden Living Center - Attleboro following a period of declining health. He was the husband of the late Bonnie Helen (Heffley) Tinkler with whom he celebrated 50 years of wedded bliss prior to her death on December 13, 2009. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on February 15, 1929, he was a son of the late Nathaniel Tinkler, Jr. and Cynthia C. (Fink) Tinkler. He was raised and educated in the City of Attleboro. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and the United States Air Force during the Korean War era. He met his future wife in Hawaii and after their marriage they resided in Hawaii for three years prior to moving to Virginia where they resided for three years prior to moving to Mr. Tinkler's native community - the City of Attleboro more than 50 years ago. Mr. Tinkler was employed at Engelhard Industries in Plainville for 20 years prior to his retirement at the age of 60. Mr. Tinkler and his late wife enjoyed the tranquility and peacefulness of camping and spent much time at the Canoe River Campground in Mansfield. Playing bingo and being an award winning horseshoe player were among his favorite pastimes. He leaves his siblings: Caldwell "Carl" L. Gagner of North Attleboro; Arthur R. Gagner of North Attleboro; Cynthia J. Courcy of Attleboro and Patricia H. Sheldon of Attleboro; three generations of nieces and nephews, cousins and many dear friends. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. Family and friends are cordially invited to join the funeral procession on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 10:00 AM from the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro or are welcome to go directly to the cemetery as there will be no services at the funeral home prior to proceeding to the cemetery. A graveside funeral service with Military Honors will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 11:15 AM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, MacArthur Boulevard, Bourne. Inurnment will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery Columbarium, Bourne where Mr. Tinkler will be laid to rest next to his cherished and beloved wife. Please do not send flowers. Memorial donations in Mr. Tinkler's name may be made to any local veteran's organization.
