James Gregory Mccarthy

James Gregory McCarthy, 61, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Golden Living Center - George Street in Attleboro, MA. He was the beloved husband of Diane Cecile (Kennedy) McCarthy, to whom he was married on September 24, 1977.   Born on March 23, 1954 in Cambridge, MA, he was the son of Marilyn E. (Evelyn) McCarthy of Yarmouth Port, MA, and the late James E. McCarthy.   James graduated from Dedham High School, Class of 1972, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Framingham State University in 1977.    A resident of Mansfield, MA for thirty years, he previously resided in Dedham. James was employed for the past ten years as a Sales Associate at Jordan's Furniture. He attended St. Mary's Church in Mansfield, and was an avid and passionate golfer and active in the Boy Scouts of America. A man who genuinely enjoyed the friendships in his life, his greatest joy was unquestionably his family.   In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his treasured children: Meredith E. (McCarthy) Bouchard and her husband, Scott Bouchard, of Norton, MA; and twin daughters: Kelly A. McCarthy of Norton, MA, and Jennifer L. McCarthy and her fiancée, Ryan Kelley, of Warren, RI.  He was the brother of Paul McCarthy of California and Chatham, MA; Kevin McCarthy of Yarmouth, MA; Mark McCarthy of Dennis, MA; and Barry McCarthy of Winchester, MA; and the adoring grandfather of Jackson Bouchard, age 5, and Jaymee M. Bouchard, age seven months.  He leaves several nieces and nephews, his extended family, and many dear friends, as well as his true companion, a seven year old Beagle, "Molly".   James was the brother of the late David McCarthy of Dedham, MA.   Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Thursday, December 3, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, 3/4 mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.   A Funeral Service will immediately follow visitation on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home.   Burial services will be privately held.   In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of James to: Boy Scouts of America Spirit of Adventure Council, 411 Unquity Road, Milton, MA 02186.
