James William Macdonald, Sr.

James William MacDonald, Sr., 77, of Attleboro, MA, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Golden Living Center in Attleboro, MA. Born on August 13, 1939 in Attleboro, MA, he was the son of the late Ernest John MacDonald and the late Rose Mary (Drinkwater) MacDonald. James was a graduate of North Attleboro High School, Class of 1958, and received his Associate Degree in Business Management from Johnson & Wales University. He proudly and honorably served our country in the United States Army, and then worked for thirty-nine years as a Panographer for the L.G. Balfour Company in Attleboro before retiring in December 2001. A resident of Attleboro since 1979, he previously lived in North Attleboro. James was a member of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church in Seekonk, MA. An outgoing and sociable man of many interests, he truly loved all that life offered. He was a sports enthusiast from an early age in high school who enjoyed golf, basketball, baseball, bowling in a Balfour league, and when younger, coaching Little League. He loved to travel with his longtime companion, Claire, especially to Nova Scotia and on bus trips; and enjoyed gardening. James was a member of the Balfour Gold Dusters and the St. Joseph's Senior Citizens Club in Woonsocket, RI. He is survived by his dear companion, Claire F. McGrady of Cumberland, RI; and was the beloved brother of Carol A. MacDonald and Ernest J. MacDonald. He was the father of the late James W.
