James E. Lockhart, Sr., 82, of Attleboro, formerly of Rehoboth, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia H. (McNally) Lockhart and his wife, Eleanor Lockhart. Born in North Attleboro on October 18, 1931, he was a son of the late Vivian and Martha (Snow) Lockhart. As a youth, James was active with Central Congregational Church in Attleboro Falls. In his later years, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church in North Attleboro. James proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1949 to 1952. Mr. Lockhart was employed as a delivery driver for many years at Bliss Brothers and the Sun Chronicle before his retirement. After retiring, he became very active with the Plainville Senior Center in Plainville. Always known as a hard worker, James enjoyed working and repairing anything made of wood. Mr. Lockhart is survived by six children: Donna L. Kinney of Michigan, Linda A. Constantine of Attleboro, Deborah A. Bombardier of Lincoln, RI, Nancy A. Plouffe of Missouri, Brenda L. Hunter of Westborough, William J. Lockhart of Westborough; six sisters; two brothers; nine grandchildren, with two more on the way; twelve great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late James E. and Steven M. Lockhart. He was also predeceased by three brothers. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Sunday, February 2, 2014 from 2:00-5:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home-the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left) Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Immediately following the visitation, relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services at 5:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, North Attleboro officiated by the Rev. Dr. Daniel T. Dore, Pastor. Children's room available during the visitation and funeral services. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend Graveside Services on Monday, February 3, 2014 at 10:00 AM in St. John's Cemetery, 165 West Street, Attleboro.
