James Thomas Groh

James Thomas Groh, 38, of Milliken Avenue, Franklin; died suddenly on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at the Milford Regional Hospital after being stricken ill at the home of his nephew and best friend before dying in his arms and being transported to the hospital. Born in Concord, Massachusetts on July 1, 1975, he was a son of Thomas J. Groh of West Roxbury and the late Leona E. (Wheelock) Groh. He was the stepson of Eleanor Groh of West Roxbury. Mr. Groh was a 1993 graduate of Southeastern Regional Vocational-Technical High School in South Easton. He joined the United States Marine Corps on December 6, 1993 and served admirably until his honorable discharge four years later on December 5, 1997. He was the recipient of the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, the Pistol Sharpshooter Badge, the National Defense Service Medal, Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and two certificates of commendation. For many years, Mr. Groh was employed as a kitchen designer for Cape Cod Lumber in Abington and more recently was employed as a kitchen designer for Kitchen and Bath Gallery of North Attleboro. Raised and educated in Mansfield, Mr. Groh resided in Franklin for many years and was a former resident of Plainville. He loved and took very serious his "fantasy football" participation, was an avid golfer and was a Boston Bruins and New England Patriots enthusiast. The youngest of all his siblings, he will be lovingly remembered for being a "great kid" and always willing to do anything for anybody. In addition to his father and stepmother, he leaves his siblings: Katherine A. Weston of North Attleboro; William R. King of Webster; Michael T. King of Braintree; Patricia M. Walker-Blomfield of Plainville; Thomas D. King of Plainville and Cynthia M. Damon of Easton; many loving and cherished nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; extended family members and friends. Family and Friends are cordially invited to attend visitation with Veteran's Honors on Thursday, August 1, 2013 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Those in need of local transportation to visitation simply call the funeral home directly at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the Funeral Service with Veteran's Honors on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home with the Reverend Kelly K. Thibeault, Pastor of the First Congregational Church, North Attleboro, officiating. Committal services with Military Honors will be held on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 1:15 at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Route 28, MacArthur Boulevard, Bourne. An invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of refreshment and remembrance at a location to be announced at the conclusion of cemetery services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mr. Groh's name may be made to the Dyer-Lake Charitable Foundation, Inc., a registered 501 (c) 3 organization, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, North Attleboro, MA 02760 to benefit the Disabled American Veterans.
