James Kenneth Greene, Jr., 72, of Glenfield Road, North Attleboro, died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Norwood Hospital after being stricken ill at Gillette Stadium where he was employed. He was the beloved husband of Sandra L. (Alberto) Greene to whom he was married on June 24, 2000. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on January 8, 1942, he was a son of the late James K. Greene, Sr. and Susan (Collitto) Greene Martin. He was raised and educated in the City of Attleboro and resided in North Attleboro for most of his life. He was an example of courage and determination following a fire at his home when he was severely burnt over the majority of his body at the young age of eleven. He persevered and never let the incident define his life. In fact, at the age of 21 he purchased his own home. Prior to his retirement at the age of 58, Mr. Greene was employed as a furnace operator at Kilmartin Industries in Attleboro and later, following his retirement, he was employed part time at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro for the past four years. Mr. Greene was devoted to his faith and was a longtime committed communicant of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in North Attleboro. As an ardent model train collector, Mr. Greene belonged to several train clubs including Central Line Hobbies in Hyannis. He treasured the time spent at his timeshare in Hyannis enjoying the Cape. Mr. Greene will be lovingly remembered for his daily trips to McDonalds; times he enjoyed walking and most importantly the time spent amidst his beloved family and cherished friends. In addition to his wife, he leaves a stepdaughter: Ann Marie Buttlar and her husband, Matthew Buttlar, Sr., of North Attleboro; two grandchildren: Jade Buttlar and Matthew Buttlar both of North Attleboro; two sisters: Suzanne M. McGowan of North Attleboro and Cheryl A. Martin Ayotte of Woonsocket, Rhode Island; two generations of nieces and nephews, extended family members and dear friends. He was the brother of the late Patricia A. Colpack and Katherine L. McGuire. Family and friends are cordially invited to greet Mr. Greene's immediately family on Thursday, June 19, 2014 from 9:30 - 11:00 AM in the narthex of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Park Street, North Attleboro. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 11:00 AM in St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Park Street, North Attleboro with the Rev. David A. Costa, Pastor, officiating. Graveside services will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Towne Street, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Park Street, North Attleboro, MA 02760. Following cemetery services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced.
