James "Jim" Edward Moriarty

June 7, 1945 — January 3, 2019

James "Jim" Edward Moriarty, 73, of Hallowell, ME, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at his home.
Born on June 7, 1945 in Holyoke, MA, he was the son of the late James Edward Moriarty, who died while serving our country in the military before Jim was born, and the late Katherine (Barrett) Moriarty.
A graduate of Holyoke High School, he attended Kansas State College.  A skilled cabinet and furniture maker, Jim was the proud owner and operator of Moriarty Upholstery and Cape Cod Tent Rental of Hyannis, MA, before moving to Maine in 2002 where he became the Maintenance Coordinator for the K.V. Federal Credit Union.
A resident of Hallowell for the past fifteen years, he previously lived in Hyannis.
Jim was a hardworking, generous man of faith, who had a wonderful, dry sense of humor and a quick wit.  He had a great sense of love and pride for his family and their Irish heritage. He was a true artisan woodworker, craftsman, and amateur photographer always ready for that next photo with his camera nearby. He loved both entertaining and bird watching from the deck of his home overlooking the Kennebec River. Jim always enjoyed the company of his many good friends, especially his "FAMILY" from The Liberal Cup, in Hallowell.
Jim is survived by his loving children: James M. Moriarty and his wife Alicia M. (DeBlois) Moriarty, of North Attleboro, MA and their children: Evan J. Moriarty, Aaron A. Moriarty, and Sophia E. Moriarty; Jennifer A. (Moriarty) Connolly and her husband Bryan W. Connolly of Bethany, CT, and their children: Brett W. Connolly and Megan B. Connolly; and Laura K. Moriarty of Rumford, ME, her children: Ash R. Barry, Liam R. Barry and their father Robert P. Barry. He was the dear brother of William "Bill" Moriarty and his wife Jan of Louisville, KY; and Elizabeth "Betsy" Greaney and her husband Eugene "Gino" of South Hadley, MA.  Jim leaves numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and an extended family.
Friends and relatives are cordially invited to honor and remember Jim by gathering for a Visitation on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. and a Time of Sharing and Reflection at 1:45 p.m. at Dyer-Lake Funeral Home. 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA
A Private Graveside Service will be held at a later date.
Although Jim did not suffer from Alzheimer's disease, he would appreciate that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011, or at www.alz.org in his memory.
