James "Jimmy" Edward Doucette, 71, of North Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
Born on February 16, 1947 in Attleboro, he was the son of the late Ovila J. Doucette and the late Gladys (Mann) Doucette.
Raised and educated in Foxboro, MA, he was a graduate of Foxboro High School and lived there most of his life. Jimmy worked for many years as a delivery person for the Foxboro Company and for Allied Auto Parts Company in Mansfield, MA, before retiring in 2015.
He proudly and honorably served our country in the United States Army.
A warm and caring man of faith, he attended St. Mark's Church in Attleboro Falls, and previously attended St. Mary's Church in Foxboro. He was an avid sports fan whose favorite teams were the Boston Celtics, the Dallas Cowboys, and the N.Y. Yankees, and playing softball for the Foxboro Company as a younger man. He also enjoyed playing cribbage. Jimmy especially loved horse racing, having co-owned race horses, and always enjoyed visits to Plainridge Park Casino to watch the races.
He leaves his sister, G. Joyce Doucette of North Attleboro: his niece, Jennifer E. (Desilets) Brink and her husband, Todd K. Brink, of New Berlin, WI; his nephew Daniel J. Desilets and his wife, Heather L. (Smith) Desilets, of North Attleboro; his great-nieces and nephews Holden T. Brink, Kelsey E. Brink, Hannah M. Desilets, and Ryan J. Desilets. James also leaves his extended family: James and Debra (Desilets) Groves, and their daughter, Kaitlyn Groves, of Attleboro. Jimmy was the brother of the late Joseph E. Doucette and his late wife, Eleanor "Ellie" Doucette; and the late Mary L. Desilets and her late husband, Alan L. Desilets.
Friends and family are cordially invited to honor and remember Jimmy by gathering for a Visitation with Veteran's Honors on Thursday, November 29, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Church, 105 Stanley Street, Attleboro Falls, MA, followed by Military Honors.
Burial services will be held at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery, Foxboro, MA, at which time he will be laid to rest alongside his late father.
