James P. Dixon, 81, of Naples, FL passed away quietly on March 21, 2025 with family by his side at AVOW Hospice. He was born in Syracuse, NY on October 2, 1943 to Thomas and Simone (Pelletier) Dixon.
Jim was a 1964 Engineering graduate of the University of Notre Dame and was in ROTC. He also received his MBA from the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University in 1970.
Jim’s military career took him to Korea during the Viet Nam war era as a Company Commander of an Engineering unit.
Jim began his career with Texas Instruments in Massachusetts and Kentucky in 1969. He also was employed by Core Industries, Bloomfield Hills, MI, SPX Charlotte, NC, Twitchell Corporation, Dothan, AL and then joined an electrical contractor in Naples, FL.
He then completed his teaching credentials and taught Geometry at Immokalee High School for 10 years and truly loved his time in Immokalee.
Jim leaves behind his wife Gail, his brother Tom, wife Mary Lynn and his family, and Gail’s siblings.
From a dear friend....
It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that I share the news of the passing of our dear friend, Jim Dixon. Jim was a rare soul—a beacon of kindness and a true gentleman in every sense of the word. His life was defined by an unwavering pursuit of truth and facts, a quest he undertook with both a compassionate heart and a logical mind. He had a gift for balancing empathy with reason, making him not just a friend, but a trusted guide to so many of us.
Jim’s presence was a quiet strength. Whether offering a thoughtful word or a gentle smile, he had a way of making those around him feel seen and valued. His dedication to honesty and integrity was unshakable, and as a mentor in Immokalee, his compassion touched countless lives. To know Jim was to know a man who made the world brighter, richer, and more meaningful simply by being himself.
His absence leaves a void in our lives that words cannot fully capture. We will miss his warmth, his wisdom, and the steady reassurance of his presence. I find myself thinking of a moment when Jim once said, “The truth is like a lion; you don’t have to defend it. Let it loose; it will defend itself.” This was Jim—bold in his convictions, yet gentle in his approach, leaving behind a legacy that speaks for itself.
As we grieve the loss of our dear friend, let us also honor the incredible life he lived. May we hold tight to the memories we shared with him—the conversations, the laughter, the quiet moments of understanding—and find solace in the profound impact he had on each of us. Jim’s light will live on in our hearts, a guiding star for the days ahead.
