James ("Jim") Clark Dakin, 86, of Plainville, peacefully passed away at home on Saturday, October 31, 2015. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Hermann) Dakin, with whom he recently celebrated his fiftieth wedding anniversary on October 16, 2105. Born in Salem, MA on April 24, 1929, he was the son of George W. Dakin and Mary Elizabeth (Clark) Dakin. A graduate of Kennett High School in North Conway, NH, he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of New Hampshire. Mr. Dakin served in the United States Army, and was employed as a Civil Engineer for twenty years for the Town of Westwood. He lived for several years in Plainville, MA, having previously resided in Medfield and Westwood, MA. Mr. Dakin attended Central Congregational Church in the Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. He enjoyed square dancing and hiking in the woods. In addition to his wife, Elizabeth, he is survived by his sons, Paul B. Dakin, and his husband, Jay Michaelson, of Brooklyn, NY; and Stephen G. Dakin, and his wife, Kelly P. (Moore) Dakin, of North Attleboro, MA. He was the grandfather of Jack T. Dakin and Julia R. Dakin, both of North Attleboro, MA. He also leaves several cousins, nieces and nephews. Mr. Dakin was the brother of the late Nancy (Dakin) Cole and John W. Dakin. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Thursday, November 5, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, 3/4 mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Service on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Central Congregational Church, 115 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, with the Rev. Carole L. Baker, Pastor, officiating. Burial services will be privately held at Greenlawn Cemetery in Salem, MA.
