James M. Casala

James M. Casala, 74, of North Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his loving family on Friday, October 14, 2022.  He was the significant other of Deborah M. Stanley with whom he shared 30 years.
Born in Fall River, MA on July 14, 1948, he was a son of the late James "Buddy" Casala and the late Earlene (Rash) Casala. He was raised and began his education in Warren, RI where he resided until the age of 10 when he moved with his family to Barrington, RI.  He was a 1967 graduate of Barrington High School.
In earlier years, he was employed at the family business - "Town and Country Variety Store", a well-known business on the bridge in Barrington.
From 1981 - 1984, James was employed by the FRAM Corporation and was a high-speed automation specialist at Texas Instruments in Attleboro, MA where he was employed from 1984 until his retirement in 2004 and it was there that he met Deborah.  He was a resident of the North Attleboro community since 1994.
He was a fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, NASCAR and enjoyed building model cars, playing pool, and fishing with his best friend, Max.  In earlier years, Jim was a coach with the Darlington National Little League in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
He treasured the times spent in the company of family and friends and often thought his greatest accomplishment was being a proud father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Both James and Deborah enjoyed traveling to places including Aruba, Las Vegas, Arizona, the Grand Canyon and taking Caribbean cruises.
During his retirement, Jim enjoyed collecting Native American artifacts, trying his luck on lottery scratch tickets, collecting casino chips, adding to his collection of Zippo lighters, and feeding the birds and squirrels at his home.
In addition to Deborah, he leaves his two children: James Casala and his wife, Tracey, and their children: Logan, Kameron and Madison and Jodie Sousa and her husband, Jorge Sousa, and their children: Tyler and his wife, Shelby, and Nicholas and Abigail; and his great grandchildren: Kaiden and Kendall all residing in Seekonk, MA.  He was the former husband of Barbara (Bates) Casala of Barrington, Rhode Island.  He was the uncle of Shaun Eddy and Kyle Vaughan.
James was the brother of the late Sandra Casala, Deborah Eddy, and Kimberly Vaughan.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Visitation in Celebration of His Life on Saturday October 29, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA, followed by a Memorial Service in the "Memorial Chapel" at the conclusion of visitation at 1:00 p.m.
Burial will be private.
The family gratefully acknowledges the Brigham and Women's - Mansfield Office, the Chemotherapy department at Sturdy Memorial Hospital and HopeHealth Hospice for the attentive care provided to Jim.
