James Alfred Amero, Jr., 52, of North Attleboro, MA, passed away on September 17, 2025, at Hope Health Hospice in Providence, Rhode Island, surrounded by his loving family and friends following a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Robert Gaipo.
He was born in Farmington, Maine, on July 22, 1973, son of James A. Amero, Sr., and the late Shirley Anne (Hunt) Dubay. He was raised and educated in the state of Maine, where he was a 1991 graduate of Livermore Falls High School.
James was employed in the restaurant and hospitality business for his entire career and last worked as the assistant manager at Applebee's Restaurant in North Attleboro, MA, until his illness. He was previously employed at Ruby Tuesday in South Attleboro, MA, and at the Picadilly Pub in North Attleboro.
He treasured times spent with his husband and his beloved dogs and enjoyed gardening, cooking, and sewing.
In addition to his husband he leaves his father, James, Sr., of Watertown, Tennessee; his siblings Alison Anne Choate and her husband Roland of Fleming Island, Florida, and Ryan Andrew Amero of North New Portland, Maine; nieces Autumn St. Pierre of Fleming Island and Jasmine St. Pierre of Hallowell, Maine; his husband’s parents Robert Gaipo and his wife Bonnie Lee of Bradenton, Florida, and Susan Anne (Atella) Gaipo Simmons and her husband James of Warwick, Rhode Island; his husband’s siblings David F. Gaipo of West Warwick, RI; Jill Anne Williams of Delaware; Joseph Carpenter of Bradenton, Florida; Kerri Lee Carpenter-Williams of Bradenton, and Jennifer Lee Lam of Bradenton; eleven additional nieces and nephews; extended family, and many dear friends.
All are cordially welcome to celebrate his life and attend Visitation on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 10:00 am in the Memorial Chapel.
Burial will be private.
