J. Daniel Martin, Jr., 73, of Cedar Street, Foxboro, died on Friday evening, March 6, 2015 at the Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, MA. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on January 31, 1942, he was a son of the late John Daniel Martin, Sr. and the late Mary G. (Daley) Martin. Raised in Canton, Mr. Martin was a 1960 graduate of Canton High School and earned his bachelor's degree in 1988 and his master's degree in 1990 both from Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy. He resided in Foxboro for the past 46 years having moved to the community from his native Canton. Mr. Martin was employed as a mental health specialist at the High Point Treatment Center in Taunton for the past seven years and was previously employed by SSTAR Substance Abuse Center in Fall River for ten years and previously at the Department of Correction in Walpole. He was an ardent reader, enjoyed taking long drives, loved all animals, particularly his late pit bull "Guido", was a cigar aficionado but most importantly enjoyed spending time with family and friends creating lifelong memories to cherish. Mr. Martin was the father of Lori L. Martin of Lynn; Tracy B. Lithway and her husband, Scott Lithway, of Plainville; John "Dan" Daniel Martin III of Attleboro and Heather R. Martin and her longtime companion, Justin Beattie, of Norton; eight grandchildren: Alysha, Nicholas, Sean, Keith, Nicole, Kyle, Juliana and Sophia; four great grandchildren: Lilianna, Lucas, Keith, Jr. and Serena; his sister: Lynda Salvatori and her husband, Gerald "Sal" Salvatori, of Norwood; his companion of five years: Margaret "Peggy" Hickey of Canton; his former wife: Lynne J. Devine of North Attleboro and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was the brother of the late Jacqueline Binley. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Friday, March 13, 2015 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.
