Isabelle A. Shea

Isabelle Is A. (Couture) Shea, 93, of Scott Street, South Attleboro, died on Friday, July 22, 2011 at the Life Care Center of Attleboro following a three week illness. She was the wife of the late John F. Frank Shea to whom she was married on July 4, 1938 and entered into eternal rest on September 23, 1983. Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on March 18, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Paul J. and Alice (Morin) Couture. She resided in the same residence for the past 91 years. She was educated in the City of Attleboro having graduated from Attleboro High School with the Class of 1936. In earlier years, Mrs. Shea was employed as a sales clerk at the former New York Lace Store in Pawtucket and later worked for both Texas Instruments and L. G. Balfour Company both in Attleboro as a secretary prior to her retirement. Mrs. Shea was a summer resident of Weirs Beach, New Hampshire for more than 45 years. Affectionately known simply as Is to her family and friends, she was an avid boater and snowmobiler for many years. She and her husband owned seven boats and numerous snowmobiles. She was a former member of the Weirs Beach and Winnipesauke Water Ski Clubs. She was an ardent swimmer and ice skater. Years ago, she and her husband were the proud season ticket holders at the Rhode Island Auditorium for the Rhode Island Reds hockey team. A lover of country music, she was a member of the George Strait Fan Club. Mrs. Shea was a communicant of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church in South Attleboro. Undoubtedly, she will be lovingly remembered most for her love for the New York Yankees. Her home was often referred to as a museum of Yankee history and memorabilia. A true sports fan, she was dedicated to the New York Jets, Miami Dolphins and the Dallas Cowboys. She leaves her daughter: Carol A. Shea of South Attleboro and her extended family including: Claire A. Fauteux of South Attleboro; Donna, Raymond, Ryan, Kristen and Katelyn Hart and their canine companion, Shadow, all of South Attleboro; several nieces, nephews, cousins, loving neighbors and dear friends. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Thursday, July 28, 2011 from 4:00 8:00 PM in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Those in need of a ride to visitation may simply call (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis local transportation. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral service on Friday, July 29, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Jon Paul Gallant, Pastor of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church, South Attleboro, officiating. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Following cemetery services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced. Childrens room available during visitation and the funeral service. Please do not send flowers.
