Irving William Manter, 87, of North Attleboro, peacefully passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Madonna Manor Nursing Home in North Attleboro, MA, with his beloved children by his side during his final days. Born on August 26, 1928, in Waltham, MA, he was the son of the late William Lawrence Manter and Edna May (Tomlin) Manter.Irving proudly and honorably served our country in the United States Army from 1950 until 1952 during the Korean War, and worked for more than forty years as a self-employed Carpenter and Builder. He resided in North Attleboro for the past seventeen years, having previously lived in Waltham, MA.Irving took great pride in all he did. He loved to build, especially bird and doll houses, clocks, and photo frames. He enjoyed travel, trains, and carousels with music, puzzles, organ music, and fishing. He was a huge Patriots fans, and especially treasured going to his grandchildren's games, cheerleading, recitals, and art shows. He is survived by his five dear children: Andrea L. Manter of Concord, MA; Leigh C. Manter and her husband, John F. Brennan, Sr., of North Attleboro, MA; Kerry E. Manter of North Attleboro, MA; Stacie J. Manter of Plainville, MA; and Stephen W. Manter of Brockton, MA. He leaves four cherished grandchildren: Taylor June Manter; Amber L. Manter; John F. Brennan, Jr., and Catherine J. Brennan. He was the former husband of Catherine June (McAdams) Manter.He loved dogs, and leaves his faithful "grand-dogs": "Bobo"; "Sandy"; Cole"; Kate"; Kali"; and Cookie". He was predeceased by "Cash" and Sophia".Irving was the brother of the late Beverly (Manter) Hanoian.
