Iris Unitt

Iris Unitt (nee Roberts) 94, of Mansfield, MA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Hope Hospice & Palliative Care in Providence, RI. She was the beloved wife of the late Leslie Harry Unitt.
Born in Quarry Bank, Staffordshire, England, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Lillian (nee Kirton) Roberts.Before emigrating to the United States she also lived in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia as well as Cold Lake, Alberta and Ottawa, Ontario in Canada.
Iris was an Executive Assistant at Raytheon for a number of years before retirement. She enjoyed playing tennis and attending U.S. Open matches in New York City. When not on the court or in the stands, Iris could be found tackling video games and both jigsaw and crossword puzzles. She was also a voracious reader of mystery and detective novels, especially those involving Agatha Christie's Miss Marples and Hercule Poirot.
She is survived by her children, Karl Unitt of Mansfield, MA, and Kurt Unitt and his wife of Norfolk, MA, along with grandchildren Melanie, Christine, and Trevor. She is also survived by her nieces Karen and Susan, both residing in West Midlands, England. She was sister to the late Irene (nee Roberts) Perry and Gladys (nee Roberts) Shingleton.
At her request, services will be private as the family has a Celebration of Her Life honoring her remarkable life.
