Irene M. Rioux

Irene M. (Paquette) Rioux, 78, of Liberty Estates, South Attleboro; formerly of North Attleboro; passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 17, 2014 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the former wife of the late Howard Emil Rioux, Jr. who died on November 18, 2013. Born in the Apponaug section of Warwick, Rhode Island on July 26, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Frederick L. and Irene M. (Perry) Paquette. She was the stepdaughter of the late Lily Paquette. Mrs. Rioux was raised and educated in North Attleboro where she was a graduate of North Attleboro High School - Class of 1953. Following high school she enrolled in numerous community education and enrichment courses. She remained a lifelong resident of North Attleboro prior to moving to the City of Attleboro in 1982. Mrs. Rioux was employed as a cafeteria worker and union steward for the Town of North Attleboro School Department, as a security officer for Engelhard Industries in Plainville and retired from the former Medicom, Inc. as the manager of quality control. She and her former husband were prior co-owners of Heather Hill Golf Course in Plainville. Her favorite pastimes included cheering on her children at their many sporting events, vacationing at Clary Lake in Maine with her children and all their friends, water skiing, visiting flea markets and yard sales and playing golf at courses everyplace she traveled. Her phenomenal cooking and large quantities of food for family, friends and neighbors will be greatly missed. She will be forever remembered as a loving and devoted mother. She leaves five children: Howard Emil Rioux, III in Pennsylvania; Stephan A. Rioux and his wife, Deborah, of Blythewood, South Carolina; Stephanie R. Taylor and her husband, Randy, of Blythewood, South Carolina; Shane D. Rioux and his wife, Tanya, of Attleboro and Shawn D. Rioux and his wife, Jenifer, of Elgin, South Carolina; her grandchildren: Lindsay and Nicholas Taylor and Adam, Haleigh, Hunter and Justin Rioux; a sister: Christine Faucett in South Carolina, extended family members and dearest friends Joan "Coopie" Ives, John and Shari Cooper. She was the sister of the late Frederick Paquette. There will be no formal service as Mrs. Rioux's life will be celebrated quietly amongst family.
