Irene A. (Guertin) Mowry, 93 Former Longtime Attleboro ResidentIrene A. (Guertin) Mowry, 93, of Creek Street, Wrentham; formerly of Attleboro; died on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the wife of the late William D. Mowry who died on July 5, 1965. Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island on October 2, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Omer and Zelika Guertin. Raised and educated in Woonsocket, Mrs. Mowry was a graduate of Woonsocket High School and later attended and graduated from secretarial school. She was employed as a secretary for Artcraft Co., Inc., formerly of Attleboro, for more than thirty years prior to her retirement and following her retirement was employed as a domestic violence advocate at the Attleboro courthouse and as a secretary at the Attleboro Arts Museum. She moved to Wrentham last June from Attleboro where she had resided most of her life. Mrs. Mowry enjoyed oil painting, reading and was a lifetime member of the American Kennel Club New England St. Bernard Club, Inc. She leaves a legacy as a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother whom was happiest when in the company of her loving family. She leaves two children: Alan D. Mowry and his wife, Constance M. (Gregg) Mowry, of Berkley and Susan E. Sirois, wife of the late Robert J. Sirois, of Wrentham; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother: Edgar Guertin of Norton and several extended family members. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral service on Monday, February 28, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Victor Chaupetta, M.S., of the National Shrine of Our Lady of LaSalette, Park Street, Attleboro, officiating. Burial will be private in Union Cemetery.
