Ida M. Hocking

June 15, 1933 — July 14, 2023

Ida May (Mason, Savini) Hocking, 90, of Taunton, MA, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 14, 2023, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, Massachusetts. She was the beloved wife of the late William Savini and the late William Thomas Hocking, to whom she had been married for thirty-two years. Born on June 15, 1933, in Attleboro, MA, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Eva May (Anderson) Mason. Ida was a member of the Norton VFW with her husband Bill and had many friends at the Norton Senior Center. She loved spending time with her family at the Savini cottage in New Hampshire which she helped build - not simply painting and cleaning. A woman ahead of her time, Ida could often be found building a wall or installing a window, no stranger to hammers, levels or power tools. She was an avid water skier and lifelong boater. As time passed, Ida enjoyed long walks and puzzles of all kinds, but caring for her family and especially visits from all her grandchildren, was her greatest joy. She is survived by her loving children: Sandra (Savini) McGrath and husband, Richard, of Henderson, Nevada; Robert Savini and his partner, Charlene, of Middleboro, MA; Steven Savini and his wife, Linda, of Stoughton, MA; Wayne Savini and his wife, Melissa, of Taunton, MA; Donald Savini of Madison, NH; and William Savini Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Easton, MA. She leaves eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; her dear step-children: Teresa Urbinati and husband, Nick; Darlene Howe and her husband, William; and Scott Hocking and his wife, Kathy; five step-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and her extended family. Ida was predeceased by her brother, Andrew Mason Jr. and his wife, Irene; her sister Carol Tellier; and her step-daughter, Debbra Hershy. Friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend a Graveside Service on Monday, July 24, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Woodlawn North Purchase Cemetery, 825 North Main Street, Attleboro, MA. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Ida's name to the Dementia Society of America at www.dementiasociety.org For additional information or to send a family a written expression of sympathy, please visit an online guest book at www.dyer-lakefuneralhome.com Arrangements under the direction of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, North Attleboro, MA. 508-695-0200
