Ida Irene (Volpini) Fortucci, 96, of Stoughton, MA, formerly of Pocasset, MA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at the Copley at Stoughton Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Stoughton. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Fortucci, whom she married on March 11, 1968 and who died on May 17, 2005.
Born on December 23, 1923 in Southbridge, MA, she was the daughter of the late John Volpini and the late Judith (Chiocca) Volpini.
Ida was a graduate of Mary E. Wells High School and worked for many years as a Physician's Medical Assistant for Dr. Nerio Pioppi in Southbridge before retiring in 1968.
A woman of faith, she was a longtime member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Pocasset, MA.
She was a warm, caring and generous woman who volunteered her time and efforts for Meals on Wheels for seventeen years.
She leaves her sister, Mary Anthony of North Eastham, MA. Ida was predeceased by her siblings: the late Fred Volpini, the late Renato Volpini, the late Emma DuPaul, and her sister-in-law, the late Rita Volpini. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and her extended family.
With strict adherence to applicable Covid-19 health precautions, including social distancing and the use of face masks, friends and family are cordially invited to honor Ida by attending a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Southbridge.
