Horacio Soares

Horacio Soares, 74, of Port Charlotte, FL, formerly of Attleboro, MA, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at the home of his daughter, Carla C. Rivera, in North Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of Luisa (de Freitas) Soares, to whom he was married on September 26, 1969.Born on May 13, 1942 in Portugal, he was the son of the late Francisco Soares and the late Piedade (Silva) Soares. He worked for many years as a machine operator at North East Cable in Pawtucket, RI.A caring, loving and hardworking man, Horacio enjoyed fishing, soccer, and visiting family and friends in his native land of Porto, Portugal. During his retirement Horacio enjoyed working in his garden. He especially cherished time spent with his family, and the companionship of the family dog, "Max".In addition to his wife, Luisa, he is survived by his treasured children: Elsa M. (Soares) St. George and her husband, Kevin W. St. George, of Port Charlotte, FL; Carla C. (Soares) Rivera and her husband, Francisco "Frank" J. Rivera, of North Attleboro, MA; and Helena M. (Soares) Travers and her husband, D.J. Travers, of Middleboro, MA. He was the adoring grandfather of Timothy, Stephanie, Katelyn, Amelie, Hailey, Nina, and Ella; and the brother of Cecilia M. Soares, Marilla Soares, and Jose Soares. He leaves several nieces and nephews. Horacio was the loving grandfather of the late Austin Ryan Rivera who died on May 28, 2008, and the brother of the late Antonio Soares.Friends and family are cordially invited to attend a Visitation on Saturday, October 8, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 Noon. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, ¾ mile on the left) Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.Children's room is available during visitation.Those in need of a local ride to the visitation may call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such complimentary transportation.
