Hilda Catherine (Silva) Gomes

Hilda Catherine (Silva) Gomes, 97, passed away peacefully at home in the loving embrace of her beloved family, to whom she devoted her life.  She was the wife of the late Joseph Gomes who died on January 25, 1989.
Born in Warren, Rhode Island on December 15, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Silva and the late Maria (Santos) Silva.
Hilda was a longtime employee of A&Z/Hayward Company in East Providence, Rhode Island and a faithful communicant of Holy Ghost Church in Attleboro, MA.  She prayed for anyone who needed it, whether she knew them or not.
She loved to spend time with her family playing games, cooking meals, and enjoying life's simple pleasures and she will be remembered for her love of laughter.
Hilda is survived by her children: Mary Simpson and her husband, Lester; Virginia Tucker and her husband, Richard; Joseph Gomes and his wife, Maria; Catherine Fernandes and her husband, Arthur; Edward Gomes and his wife, Cheryl; Anne Bolton and Laurie Frazier and her husband, Bruce, all residents of the City of Attleboro.
She was the beloved grandmother of 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one great great grandson and she made every one of them feel special.  Hilda also leaves many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, parents, and siblings: Mary Pacheco, Joseph Silva, Alice Veader, Lucy Mello, Manuel Silva and Dolores Costa and her infant son, Joseph.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a Visitation Sunday, July 10, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.  A Funeral and Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow at 7:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel".
Private graveside services will be held in St. John's Cemetery, Attleboro, MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Hilda's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or you may simply say a loving prayer in her honor.
