Helen C. (Duffany) Carmichael, 98, of Jackson Street, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, died on Monday, July 8, 2013 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the wife of the late Frederick Hubley Carmichael to whom she was married on November 3, 1940 and died on May 22, 2004. Born in Middleboro, Massachusetts on March 3, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Charles Arthur and Mary Adelaide (Tibbetts) Duffany. She was a resident of the Village of Attleboro Falls for more than 60 years and was previously a resident of North Attleboro and Attleboro. In addition to devoting herself to her family, Mrs. Carmichael was known to be an excellent seamstress and was a fomer Avon sales representative many years ago. She was a former member of Grace Episcopal Church, North Attleboro. Mrs. Carmichael was a volunteer for the American Heart Association and at the Attleboro Thrift Shop. Her family will lovingly remember her love for baking bread, love for roses, as a great bird watcher and in later years enjoying the solitude of watching television and reading. She leaves three children: Daniel A. Carmichael of Atlteboro Falls; Ann Wade of Harwich and Pamela J. Risotti of Attleboro and the late Patricia Carmichael; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two sisters: Dorothy Betts of Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Florence Texiera of Falmouth; three generations of nieces and nephews and several extended family members and friends. She was the sister of the late Wilfred, Lawrence, Charles, Vincent Duffany and Albina Wigglesworth. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Celebration of Her Life Memorial Service on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, Mount Hope Street, North Attleboro. Following cemetery services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Carmichael's name may be made to the Dyer-Lake Charitable Foundation, Inc., a registered 501 (c) 3 organization, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, North Attleboro, MA 02760 to benefit the American Diabetes Assocation.
