Heidi Childs

Heidi (Coan) Childs, 46, of Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at her home, with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Wayne Allen Childs for twenty-three years.Born on December 13, 1970 in Stoughton, MA, she was the daughter of Susan (O'Grady) Coan Santos of Attleboro, and the late Jeffrey Coan.A lifelong resident of Attleboro, Heidi was a graduate of Attleboro High School, Class of 1988, and studied nursing at Bristol Community College and Psychology at the University of Phoenix. She worked for many years as a Mental Health Specialist at Arbour-Fuller Hospital in Attleboro, MA, and previously as a Spinal Cord Technician at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and at the VA Boston Healthcare System, and as a Certified Nursing Aide with Home Health Care. Heidi was a spiritual woman who truly enjoyed caring for others. She had a love of animals, the outdoors, wildlife, walks through nature, the color purple, cooking creative foods, and the smile food would bring to people. She enjoyed making jewelry and coloring, and had a special place in her heart for her cat, "Gypsy". More than anything, Heidi deeply loved her family.In addition to her husband, Wayne, and her mother, Susan, she leaves her cherished children:  Joshua M. Childs and Hanna R. Childs, both of Attleboro, MA. She was the very special sister of Tara L. Santos of Attleboro, MA; and the step-sister of Michael J. Santos of Provincetown, MA; David S. Santos of Attleboro, MA; Steven Coan; Sara Coan; Tommy Coan; and Heather Coan.  She was the step-daughter of the late Michael J. Santos. Heidi was the granddaughter of Gramma Irene, Grandpa O'Grady, and the late Jacquelyn Witt.  Heidi leaves several aunts; uncles; cousins, especially Cathy; several nieces and nephews; her sisters-in law, Linda and Debbie; and many dear friends.Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Heidi by gathering for a Visitation on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA, immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 8:00 p.m. at Dyer-Lake Funeral Home.Burial services will be private.
