Hedley Arthur Dupelle

February 4, 1917 — August 12, 2012

Hedley Arthur Dupelle, 95, of St. James Road, North Attleboro, died on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Katherine E. (McCarthy) Dupelle to whom he was married on August 21, 1939 and who died on October 24, 2008. Born in Canada on February 4, 1917, he was raised by his beloved maternal grandparents, the late Michael and Mary Ellen (Walsh) Pierson, following the death of his mother, Anna (Pierson) Dupelle, at a young age. Mr. Dupelle immigrated to the United States from Canada when he was two years old. He became a naturalized United States citizen in 1937 and lived in Plainville and Mansfield prior to settling in North Attleboro in 1940. During the World War II era, Mr. Dupelle was assigned a classified position working on the Eagle Scanner Radar program. This prevented him from enlisting in the armed services directly but provided him with the opportunity to serve his country in a civilian capacity. A man of many careers, Mr. Dupelle was notably a machinist and carpenter prior to his retirement in 1982. In earlier years he was a member of the Foreman's Club and was an ardent deer hunter. He treasured the times spent in the company of his family. He leaves three daughters: Eileen "Pat" Gould and her husband, North Attleboro Town Clerk Maxwell G. Gould, of North Attleboro; Ann Dailey, the wife of the late William R. Dailey who died in 1999, of North Attleboro and Virginia Phipps and her husband, Kevin L. Phipps, of North Attleboro; a daughter-in-law: Mary Ann (Chizook) Dupelle, the wife of his late son, Michael R. Dupelle, who died in 2011, of North Attleboro; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Dorothy Rioux, Rose Wojciechowski and Thomas Dupelle. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Friday, August 17, 2012 9:00 - 11:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.
