Hazelle Agnes (Lamoureux) Cooper, 84, a lifelong resident of Attleboro, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at her home. She was the beloved wife of Lawrence E. "Bud" Cooper, her husband of nearly 62 years, whom she married on June 12, 1954.Born in Attleboro on April 9, 1931, Hazelle was the daughter of the late Joseph and Agatha "Evelyn" (Mitchell) Lamoureux. She graduated from Attleboro High School in 1949 and went on to attend Emerson College and the University of Rhode Island, where she earned her bachelor's degree in education from the Women's Continuing Education Program, graduating summa cum laude.Hazelle was passionate about learning, particularly the education of young children. She worked as a teacher for more than twenty-five years, beginning at the Briggs Corner Elementary School in Attleboro and later at The Wheeler School in Providence. She also loved the arts, starring in community theatre productions including "Under the Sycamore Tree" and "Auntie Mame."Few activities brought Hazelle greater joy than travel, and together with Bud she saw the world. Her grandchildren never tired of hearing about her many adventures, particularly a memorable trip to southern Italy that included a private serenade from a singing gondolier. Closer to home, she and Bud loved sailing the New England coast on their beloved sailboat, Miranda.Hazelle was also a great hostess, the life of any party, with a talent for cooking. Her other hobbies included quilting and flower arranging. Most of all, though, she was devoted to her family, and took great pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Bud, Hazelle is survived by her dear children: Patrice E. Cooper and her husband, Anthony R. Nesi, of Mattapoisett, MA; Glenn G. Cooper and his wife, Natalie Parece, of South Kingstown, RI; and Bradford E. Cooper and his wife, Karen M. Cooper, of Davenport, FL. She leaves four cherished grandchildren: Austin L. Cooper, Sydney A. Cooper, Edward A. "Ted" Nesi, and Katharine E. Nesi. Hazelle was the sister of Martin Lamoureux, Paul Lamoureux, the late Joseph Lamoureux and the late Robert Lamoureux, and she also leaves several nieces and nephews.Visitation has been respectfully omitted.
