Hazel A. (Harvey) Bailey, 96, of Cape Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation, 37 Route 6A, Sandwich; formerly of Jefferson Street, North Attleboro and Pleasant Street, Attleboro, died on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the facility where she had resided for almost ten years after having been surrounded by the presence of family. She was the wife of the late Herbert O. Bailey who died in 1972. Born in Elgood, West Virginia on July 4, 1914, she was a beloved daughter of the late Rev. William A. Harvey, Sr. and Mrs. Bertha (Craddock) Harvey and was the stepdaughter of the late Mrs. Gertrude (Shaw) Harvey. Mrs. Bailey was a North Attleboro resident for 45 years prior to moving to Attleboro where she resided for four years before moving to Sandwich almost ten years ago. She was employed as an inspector for the former L. G. Balfour Company in Attleboro prior to her retirement 35 years ago. Mrs. Bailey never forgot her southern roots and was a woman of strong religious convictions and strong faith. Her family recalls with fondness her many whimsical sayings and quotations that she would interject into daily conversation. Mrs. Bailey attended the Church of the Nazarene in North Attleboro and the Assembly of God in South Attleboro in earlier years. Her favorite pastimes included cooking, sewing, quilting and shopping but she was happiest when surrounded by members of her large family as they created memories to cherish for a lifetime. Mrs. Bailey leaves her children: James R. Bailey of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; Alice E. Thomas of Sagamore; Oliver L. Bailey of Spring Hill, Florida; Marjorie A. DeRagon of North Attleboro; Katheryn S. MacNamara of North Attleboro; Brenda K. Moore of North Attleboro; Janice A. Felix of East Walpole; 17 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; her siblings: William A. Harvey, Jr. in West Virginia; Samantha Tucker in North Carolina; Dorothy Hodge in West Virginia; Wanda Faidley in West Virginia; Robertha Taylor in Kentucky and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She was the dedicated and devoted mother of the late Roland A. Bailey who died on September 11, 1997. Mrs. Bailey was predeceased by her siblings: Virginia D. Hoskins; Ruth Powell; Martha Goings, Pauline Phillips, Denzel Harvey and Gilmer Harvey. Carole L. Baker, Pastor of the Central Congregational Church, Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, North Attleboro. Following cemetery services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced.
