Harry Freeman Rowles, Jr.

Harry Freeman Rowles, Jr., 89, of Earlmar Drive, North Attleboro, died on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the husband of the late Cynthia M. (Parker) Rowles who died on June 7, 2005. Born in Providence, Rhode Island on March 22, 1925, he was a son of the late Harry Freeman Rowles, Sr. and Esther J. (Jillson) Rowles. He was raised and educated in the City of Providence where he was a 1943 graduate of Central High School. Mr. Rowles was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served from his enlistment on June 23, 1943 until his honorable discharge on December 12, 1945. Mr. Rowles served in the Western Pacific, the Southern Philippines and Ryukyus and was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, the Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon with Bronze Service Arrowhead and the Philippine Liberation with Bronze Service Star. He was employed as a controller for the R. Blackinton Company in North Attleboro for 25 years and was later employed as a controller and purchasing agent by Wells Benrus in Attleboro. He was a resident of North Attleboro for the past 52 years. Mr. Rowles attended the First Baptist Church, North Attleboro. His favorite pastimes included playing golf but his most treasured times were those spent in the company of his family creating lifelong memories for all to cherish. He leaves five children: Karen E. Smith, wife of the late William C. Smith, of Attleboro; Cynthia J. Vinciguerra and her husband, Philip P. Vinciguerra, of North Attleboro; Kevin M. Rowles and his wife, Denise P. Rowles, of Smithfield, Rhode Island; Timothy S. Rowles and his wife, Cynthia J. Rowles, of Plainville and Jason C. Rowles and his wife, Thea A. Rowles, of Carver; 15 grandchildren; 8, soon to be 9, great grandchildren; a sister: Norma Corvese and her husband, Murray Corvese, of North Attleboro and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was the father of the late Laurie J. Rowles and Leslie D. Rowles. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation with Veteran's Honors on FRIDAY, MAY 9. 2014 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the DYER-LAKE FUNERAL HOME, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. For those in need of a ride to visitation simply call the funeral home at 508-695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation. Please omit flowers.
