Harold C. England, Jr.

Harold C. England, Jr., 80, of Siesta Drive, North Attleboro died on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at the Kindred Hospital in Stoughton. He was the husband of Marion G. (Blodgett) England to whom he was married on February 1, 1964. Born in North Attleboro, Massachusetts on April 21, 1934, he was a son of the late Harold C. England, Sr. and the late Bertha (Stott) England. He was a lifelong resident of North Attleboro and was a 1952 graduate of North Attleboro High School. Mr. England attended the University of Rhode Island. Mr. England proudly served in the United States Army having enlisted on July 17, 1956 and served until his honorable discharge on July 16, 1958. He achieved the rank of Specialist Fourth Class and later served with the U.S. Army Reserves. He started his career working for his father's company, Harold C. England and Sons Builders, where he was employed for 16 years. He then was employed by Unisys as a computer engineer for 24 years having worked in the company's Wellesley and East Providence, Rhode Island locations. Mr. England was last employed by Sun Life Financial in Wellesley as a records clerk for 8 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the First Congregational "Oldtown" Church in North Attleboro. For many years, Mr. England served his community as an elected member of the Representative Town Meeting. His favorite pastimes included playing golf, traveling, camping and as a skilled craftsman and carpenter he enjoyed building his own home. He treasured the time spent in the company of his family, particularly his cherished grandchildren whom he loved beyond words, friends and church community. In addition to his wife of 50 years he leaves, a son: Steven C. England and his wife, Kathleen A. (Sullivan) England of Hampton, New Hampshire; a daughter: Debra L. Fennell and her husband, James P. Fennell, of North Attleboro; two grandsons: Ryan C. England and Joshua T. Fennell; a granddaughter: Megan G. Fennell; two sisters: Carol E. Stolworthy, wife of the late Robert Stolworthy, of North Attleboro and Martha Crawford and her husband, Richard Crawford, of Tuftonboro, New Hampshire; a sister-in-law: Constance England, wife of his late brother, Allan R. England and several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and dear friends. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Service Celebrating His Life on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the First Congregational "Oldtown" Church, 675 Old Post Road, North Attleboro with the Rev. Kelly Thibeault, Pastor, officiating. In tribute to Mr. England's service to our country, military honors will be bestowed following church services. Burial will be private in Seekonk Cemetery, Seekonk. Following church services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments in Maxcy Hall at the church. Please omit flowers.
