Grace E. (Sanford) Chace, 94, of Washington Street, Plainville, peacefully passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham, MA. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold L. Chace. Born in Providence, RI on March 14, 1921, she was the daughter of Wilson E. Sanford and Fannie Mae (Ruoff) Sanford. Grace was a graduate of Hope High School in Providence, and the Katherine Gibbs School. She was employed as a Secretary for Krew, Inc. in Attleboro, MA. A resident of Plainville, MA for more than forty years, she previously lived in North Attleboro. A remarkably active woman her entire life, Grace was a longtime member of Cushman Union Church in North Attleboro, and enjoyed gardening, swimming at the Hockomock YMCA, cross-stitching, knitting, traveling throughout the world, and her Boston Red Sox. In earlier years, she enjoyed time spent bowling and was a member of the Attleboro Area Council of Churches Bowling League. Grace truly valued time spent with her family, most especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her beloved children: Virginia C. (Chace) Wheeler and her husband, Gerald W. Wheeler, of North Attleboro, MA; and Stephen R. Chace and his wife, Mary S. (Charlebois) Chace, of Attleboro Falls, MA; her five cherished grandchildren: Jonathan Wheeler, Joshua Wheeler, Noelle D'Intino, Daniel Chace, and Sarah Goral; and seven treasured great-grandchildren: Joshua Wheeler, Emma Wheeler, Benjamin Wheeler, Nathaniel Wheeler, Gabriella D'Intino, Sadie Goral, and Sophia Goral. She was the dear friend and longtime companion of Bill Homer of Plainville, MA, to whom she was affectionately known as "Amazing Gracie". Grace also leaves many nieces and nephews and her extended family. She was the sister of the late Virginia (Sanford) DeYoung.
