Gordon Russ

Sadly, Gordon R. "Russ" Russ, 81, of North Attleboro, peacefully passed away at Life Care Center of Attleboro in Attleboro, MA, on Saturday, December 31, 2016 after a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Frances Norcross.Gordon was born on March 23, 1935 in Brockton, MA, the son of the late John Russ and the late Hildegarde Hagland. A resident of North Attleboro since 2010, he previously lived for thirty years in Dorchester, MA. Russ worked for twenty-two years as a Driver for Triad Transport, Inc. in Cambridge, MA, before retiring."Poppy", or "Dad" as he was affectionately known, enjoyed listening to country music, singing and playing the guitar, collecting baseball hats and Dale Earnhardt memorabilia, playing Rummy and Cribbage, and was a wrestling fan. He loved candy, his companion "Noah", a twenty year old bird, and his late Chihuahua, "Hopi".In addition to his wife, he is survived by her daughters: Christine McDonagh and Colleen Mearls, as well as his first wife, Carol Julius Russ Bouthilier, and their children: Dorothy "Dori" Marchand, Laura Jean Russ-Howard, and Charles "Charlie" Russ. He leaves his many grandchildren, including David Hyde, Jamie Howard, Raymond Frederickson, and Derek Burr. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend a Visitation on Monday, January 9, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, ¾ mile on the left) Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.Children's room is available during visitation.Those in need of a local ride to the visitation may call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such complimentary transportation.
