Gloria J. Nye

Gloria Jean (DonAroma) Nye, 75, of Attleboro, MA, formerly of Groton, CT passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Richard Irving Nye Sr. whom she married on June 10, 1993.
Born on July 23rd, 1947 in Bridgeport, CT she was the daughter of the late Paul Anthony DonAroma and the late Mary Dolores Capozzi.
Gloria was raised in Stratford. Her devoted mother, Mary, had departed with battling breast cancer. Grandmother Giovanna Capozzi & Grandmother Philomena Donnarumma stepped in while her widowed father had to work out in New Britain as a bricklayer with Russo-DonAroma family business. Gloria was loved by both Capozzi & DonAroma Aunts, who led her with a passion in Italian dishes and making family's traditional homemade sauce while cousins who had made her childhood a memorable one.
She was a graduate of American School for the Deaf, Class of 1966. She dedicated 25 rewarding years as a Deaf Human Services Coordinator for a Deaf Group Home and worked at the American School for the Deaf as a Behavioral Specialist which she was known for her funny storytelling that uplifted many Deaf Children who were language deprived.
Gloria was a member and on a bowling team for Waterbury Deaf Club and was also a member and treasurer of Daytona Beach Deaf Club. She was also a member of Connecticut Association of the Deaf, International Catholic Deaf Association, and the National Frat Society.
Spending time with her grandkids were her best interests and going to East Point Beach and Naval Submarine Base New London over lunch and by sunset with her husband Richard.
Along with her husband she leaves her daughters: Heidi Clemmey of Framingham, MA and Wendy Clemmey of Attleboro, MA; her bonus children: Richie Nye Jr and his wife Karen of Groton, CT and Dawn (Nye) Plaza and her husband Danny of Uncasville, CT; Her grandchildren: Niko Feeney & Fiancé Danielle Ferrara, John Feeney III, Dylan Feeney, Lancelot Good, Romeo Good, Skyla Moscoso; bonus grandchildren; Kyle Nye & Fiancé John Leonidas of Derby, CT, Korrina & Dan Huggard of Ledyard, Taylor & Sierra Nye of New London and Ebonee' Fitzergald of Uncasville and bonus great grandchildren: Nia Nye, Kai Nye & Lillian Huggard; and her sisters Vivian Bushy and Lorna Laferriere. She is predeceased by her brother: Paul J DonAroma Jr.
