Gloria Joanne Bryan

Gloria J. (Tompkins) Michelman Bryan, 80, of Quail Creek Road, North Attleboro, died on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her loving and devoted family. She was the wife of the late Arnold Michelman who died in 1982 and William "Bill" Bryan who died in 1993. Born in Yorktown Heights, New York on April 12, 1932, she was a daughter of the late William and Sue (Eaton) Tompkins. She was raised and educated in her native community of Yorktown Heights and earned her associate's degree in secretarial services. Mrs. Bryan had been employed as an administrative assistant in the financial services industry for many years prior to her retirement. She will be most lovingly remembered for her dedication as a homemaker to her family. A resident of North Attleboro since 1999, she previously resided in Burlington from 1957 - 1999 having moved to Massachusetts from New York City. Mrs. Bryan enjoyed nature, loved animals, gardening and bird watching. Her favorite pastime included creating culinary creations and entertaining her family and friends. She leaves three children: Donna S. Cohen Avery and her husband, Michael A. Avery, with whom she resided in North Attleboro; Sheila T. Christian of Brooklyn, New York and Robert Michelman and his wife, Terry Herkner Michelman, of Toluca Lake, California; three grandchildren: JoAnn Cohen Vaida and her husband, Justin Vaida, of Attleboro; Benjamin Avery of Sandwich and Arielle Cohen of North Attleboro; her siblings: Sue Kasper of Longmeadow; Lillian Kasper in New Jersey; Delores Bassler in Vermont; June Peene in Pennsylvania and several extended family members and friends. She was the sister of the late Alvin "Kelly" Tompkins, Leroy "Roy" Tompkins, Riley Tompkins, Ruth Roberts and Ida Drennon. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a funeral service on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 10:30 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with Rabbi Elyse Wechterman of Congregation Agudas Achim, Attleboro, officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:45 AM at Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon. Shiva will be observed at 111 Quail Creek Road, North Attleboro immediately following graveside services on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 until 8:30 PM and on Thursday, May 3, 2012 from 4:30 - 8:30 PM with a minyan service each evening at 6:30 PM.
